Mary Zier: Community Service Recognition

Mary Zier has been an amazing volunteer to work with at the Children’s Museum Tucson for the past year. She brings her positive energy and enthusiasm to the weekly program she volunteers for, Discovery Nights. Mary is always excited to learn new craft activities.  She facilitate the crafts during Discovery Nights and has wonderful engagement with children and their families.

Mary is so consistent and reliable; she is basically part of the staff! She not only comes ready to do the tasks she signed up for but also offers help in other areas and anticipates the needs of the programs or events. Mary has made hundreds of extra premade stickers on her own time without being asked, simply because she knew it was a popular activity children love to do at the Museum. She also donated lanyards for volunteer badges when she noticed there were not enough for all the volunteers participating during a big event.

Mary has great rapport with all Museum staff and guests and has become another friendly face at the Museum. Aside from being so thoughtful and helpful, Mary is also super fun to be around! Her welcoming attitude makes her approachable to children and their families, and they have fun learning and creating with her. Mary is not just someone you can count on, but someone you look forward to seeing and talking to. She constantly helps make the Children’s Museum a fun place to learn and work. Mary deserves all the praise!

Community Service Recognitions

The annual SAVMA Awards include Community Service Recognitions, like the one Mary received. Public recognitions and awards are part of a broader effort to draw attention to volunteers’ essential work and the profession of volunteer engagement.
