Present to SAVMA
The Program and Events Committee requests proposals for those wishing to present to SAVMA. Programs last 45 minutes and include 15 minutes of Q and A.
Most programs are on the third Thursday of each month at 3:30 PM at Habitat for Humanity (3501 N. Mountain). Some programs are offered in person, while others are offered entirely online.
Presenter’s Guide
SAVMA provides presenters with a guide to assist in adapting the volunteer engagement principles to the learning needs of audiences and incorporate common practices to increase inclusivity, accessibility, and belonging. The guide also includes common practices to streamline and simplify presentations, reduce technical issues, and increase audience engagement. Audiences may have sight, hearing, speaking, or physical impairments that make participation difficult. It is a great place to start and not a standalone resource. Download the Presenters Guide.
Program Selection
The Programs and Events Team reviews program proposals for content that meets member needs, is compatible with SAVMA’s strategic goals, and aligns with the annual calendar. For questions, email SAVMATucson@gmail.com.
SAVMA has a strict no-solicitation policy during programs. However, business promotion and networking are permitted at meetings.
Individual Industry Standards of Practice
The seven essential standards of practice establish the scope, activities, and accountabilities of individuals in the Volunteer Engagement profession.
- Strategic volunteer engagement planning.
- Advocating for volunteer involvement (Internal & External Stakeholders)
- Recruit and Onboard a Volunteer Workforce
- Prepare Volunteers for Their Roles (Orient and Train)
- Document Volunteer Involvement (Supervise and Support)
- Manage Volunteer Performance and Impact (Continuous Quality Improvement)
- Acknowledge, Celebrate and Sustain Volunteer Involvement
The Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA) fully supports the standards (what you know) with competencies (what you do with what you know). The Competencies Framework clarifies and defines the full range of activities volunteer engagement professionals undertake in support of a full-service volunteer program.
