Community Service Recognition: Sarah Hosea
In January, SAVMA celebrated volunteerism at the 2020 SAVMA Awards, a volunteer recognition event for all of Southern Arizona. Organizations were invited to nominate individuals for a Community Service Recognition in honor of their exceptional giving and spirit of service. Throughout the month of April, we will be highlighting these individuals and their nomination as part of VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION MONTH!
Sarah Hosea: VITA Site Coordinator for United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona
Sarah joined the VITA team at United Way just a few years ago.
She took to her training like a duck to water and quickly became
a leader among her site’s preparation team. Last year, she took
the leap and became a site coordinator, leading a team of seven
volunteers on Saturday afternoons, providing taxpayers in
Tucson with no-cost tax preparation services, allowing them to
keep their full tax refunds. For many of our VITA clients, their
tax refund is the biggest check they’ll receive all year, and
Sarah’s team completed more than 200 refunds, bringing back
$262,000 in refunds to local families in our community. Sarah is
about to kick off her second season as a site coordinator, so
please wish her luck!
