United Way’s Days of Caring is our community’s single largest volunteer event and this Fall will the the 20th annual event. In 2018, nearly 4300 volunteers completed more than 100 community projects. Whether your organization has participated every year or never before, this presentation will offer helpful tips to craft a meaningful volunteer experience that will stand out amongst a hundred other opportunities. Days of Caring is a great way to engage potential volunteers or donors and is a great way to collaborate with dozens of other local nonprofits to benefit the community as a whole.

Our Presenter
Meredith Bode is the Community Engagement Manager for the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. Born and raised in Denver, Meredith moved to Tucson to earn a degree in elementary education from the University of Arizona. Passionate about community building and making a positive difference in the world, she went on to build a career outside of traditional classrooms. Meredith previously worked for six years as community outreach manager with the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, where she planned events, managed education and donor stewardship programs, and cuddled lots of cats and dogs. She also worked for three years as assistant director of events for the University of Arizona Foundation, planning donor and board-related events. She has now been at the United Way for four years and oversees all events for the organization including Days of Caring, which is the single largest community volunteer event in Southern Arizona. She also leads the organization’s young professionals group, the Young Leaders Society, which focuses on networking and philanthropy. She enjoys spending her free time with her daughter, Reese, and son, Nixon, and enjoys hiking, painting, and traveling.
